His expression hardened, but the sadness remained. “I don’t want to talk about her right now.”“Then you can either talk to me, or I can take you in for questioning.”

Her tone was firm, the kind that demanded respect. Eric’s shoulders sagged, and he gestured toward the couch. “Fine. Sit. But I didn’t do it. I loved her.” “Tell me about your relationship,” she prompted, settling into the worn cushions.

“We had our ups and downs. She was amazing, but fame got to her head. She started pushing me away, going to parties, mingling with people I didn’t like.” His voice dripped with bitterness.
