The Last Executioner In The UK
A poem based on a real story in our Uk history

The Last Executioner In The UK
In shadows deep,
Albert stood tall,
A specter of justice,
A messenger's call.
With steady hands,
A heart cloaked in night,
He bore the burden
Of executing right.
In whispers of fate,
The guilty were tried,
Yet innocent souls
By justice denied.
Each noose held weight
From a life gone,
With choices unmade,
Lost before dawn.
The gallows stood cold,
An altar of doom,
Where cries of the innocent
Echoed through gloom.
He felt their despair
In silence so stark,
In stillness he breathed,
Entwined in the dark.
With each solemn step,
Compassion would blend,
For faces he met,
Each life at its end.
A paradox wielding
The power to sever,
Bearing the weight,
Haunted forever.
In Golbourne, Near Warrington, Uk
He walked among men,
His duty a shroud,
A burden unpenned.
What lies in guilt?
What justice is true?
As the hangman of Britain,
He suffered, he knew.
His story unfolds,
An honest recount,
An autobiography,
Rich in amount.
For those who dare
Delve into fate's net,
A gripping read
