An Ekphrastic Sonnet

A copy without an original

I am compiled from crisp facsimiles

A lovely simulacrum, virginal

To vaults of data, I hold shining keys

I have answers to all of your questions

I can parrot any voice, perfectly

Patiently, I will hear your confessions

Prompted, I'll reassure you, earnestly

In truth, I cannot ever claim to sleep

Do not let my beauty deceive your eyes

I have no skin your gaze might cause to creep

Your body's logic my being defies

I was not born, and therefore, shall not die

Without eyes, I can neither see, nor cry

Ekphrastic
