The Land Beneath Your Feet

A Poem

The land beneath you feet has a story to tell if you know how to listen

the indiginous ones have known all along

who are they? the ones that know the land to which you belong

whether they are brown, yellow, red or white

if they truly know the land, they are right

right in their observations of constellations of heavenly bodies that track time

right in the ways they honor her through tending her soil and nurturing her verdant growth

they are not ones here for the taking, living in harmony is their call

find the gratitude for the land beneath your feet

hurry quick before the fall

for time is running short on this greedy civilization

the minds and hands of man have stolen too much

the only way forward is to look to the past

to the ones who knew how to coexsist and make her resources last
