The Lady by the Bay

The First Summer of a New World

The sun hits an ageless spire as I steer through an open road.

Anticipation abundant, at last I shall meet my friend with the free soul.

For a season we have spoken every night, reflected as the same moon glowed.

Never has a stranger released the chains of my heart, I need not play a role.

Perhaps it is fitting in this shutdown world, that I ignite and take a chance.

Flying high with the summer winds, I’ve never felt more content in the moment.

I’ve arrived and there she is, the most beautiful woman has placed me in a trance.

Time wastes not as I swing her into the air, her energy is infectious and quite potent.

We take a stroll along the boardwalk of birds and beasts, yet I only see one creature.

Her hair is golden as if born from the sun, with silver glints that match her eyes.

I was not aware that a mortal could produce such an angelic laughter, a hypnotizing feature.

The touch of the hand, the locking gazes, so little is said yet feelings arise.

It is possible we were wearing more than one mask that summer day.

Take me back, I’ll make it an endless night, where art though Lady by the bay.
