A perfectly balanced life
I live on the edge of a knife
Expert craftsmanship
Handsomely paid
Exemplary, efforts
Sharpen the line laid
Teetering on your fingertip
I dribble off like sanguine rain
Coloring your examination
Coughing up a sad refrain
🔪
I rely on my frictional companion
Gritty to the touch
Yet, effortlessly, I slide
Across the whetstone of time
Colors stacked
To guide the eye
Refining my path
Restoring my blunted mind
To a sharpened shine since
I live on the edge of a knife
🔪
Through heirloom vegetables and
Aged slabs of meat
I glide with surgical precision
Multiplying portions to avoid defeat
With a frictionless line
I shape and define
Boundaries clear cut
Limits identified
Where I live, confined
To the edge of a knife
🔪
Doused with flowing water
refreshing hand-worked steel
A single lingering drop
Flung from the flashing tip
Replaced in the canvas roll
Tucked and restrained
Like a snug bespoke glove
For I live on the edge of a knife
