The Joys of October

Canvas of Fall Color

The days are colder, windy, and dark.

The long summer days have lost their spark.

No more endless days and brightness.

No more ease and vacation lightness.

The sun’s sleepy October rays still keep us warm.

They will soon give way to rainy thunder storms.

We can still enjoy some carefree forest hikes,

Connect with nature, sports and fly a kite.

But soon the land will look lonely and bare,

The hatches are battened, and a chill is in the air.

We're busy finishing last outdoor chores.

Time to insulate windows and doors.

The ghosts of Halloween drifts through the neighborhood,

And the candy is plentiful and good.

There is still time, though, before winter.

So let us enjoy fall, and all its splendor.

The beauty of fall colors make me smile,

Since fall will still last, for quite a while.
