The Jersey Devil

Mother Leeds thirteenth child

By Mark Stigers Published 2 years ago • Updated 2 years ago • 1 min read

My mother cursed me in the womb.

I her thirteenth child.

I flew up the chimney into the gloom,

ever since, I’ve run wild.

I have red glowing eyes,

in a goat-like head grand.

With leathery wings I fly,

and I use small claw like hands.

People look up, and there I am.

I have a blood curdling scream.

I am one of the damned.

I am a truly evil thing.

Come into my realm

and I will watch you.

I have no qualms,

over the things I do.

I am nature’s avenger.

Do not earn my wrath.

For you could be in danger,

if you cross my path.
