It’s not as if I thought of things before I made my peace

But afterthought is what consciousness brings

My visions will not cease. There will be no final release.

In the beginning, thrilling, a dark forbidden caprice

I feigned moral apathy as my obsession spread its wings

It’s not as if I thought of things before I made my peace

Clearly, I, gorging, my obsession fecund and obese.

Who among us would pursue such disgraceful things?

My visions will not cease. There will be no final release.

Will this sordid compulsion ever (never) cease?

I exploit the unwilling, and unlike the bee that stings

It’s not as if I thought of things before I made my peace.

I am blinded, my mind a grotesque cerise

My head echoes their screams, it rings and rings

My visions will not cease. There will be no final release.

I recoil into darkness as surging urges increase.

The afterthought (my conscience) is what still clings.

It’s not as if I thought of things before I made my peace

My visions will not cease. There will be no final release.
