The Illusion of Freedom

Poetry

What does "Freedom" actually mean?

How would you define it?

This word, so easily used, can seem

Elusive when trying to decipher it.

If freedom means we all have a choice

To do what we want with our lives,

Anarchy then, will be given a voice,

And freedom will, with oppression collide.

My freedom to live as I see fit,

May cause entrapment and misery to another.

How then, are we free, I ask again,

If my freedom causes harm to others?

We all want freedom though we know not what from,

And we all feel we have certain rights.

We wholeheartedly seek for a place to belong,

A place to escape the trials and tribulations of life.

Freedom is but an illusion:

Our happiness birthing another's woes.

Freedom has caused nothing but wars,

And so, to the grave, we all shall go

Singing "Where is my freedom?" and " Where did it go? ".

And so, to the grave, we all shall go

Singing "the illusion of freedom imprisoned my soul".
