The Hunt

Heat rises like a scent, a wild viper roaming free. Like an invitation that lures me to my feet. Driving the desire for more, hungrily, I smile and smell the air. Without thought, I’m set in motion, led by an innate desire to pursue. Filling this insatiable need to hunt.

Until now, I’ve never indulged my imagination, never experienced the thrill, that is the chase. Never before allowed myself to even dream about the game. I denied my curiosity, and never satisfied the urge. I’d never before found myself caught up in the moment letting instinct, my real self, reveal.

Now that it is within my grasp, could I dare to follow through? Could I execute the mission and take the steps I needed to? The ones necessary to achieve the goal, reaching the desired result? Become aware that I’m the hunter and life and death define the hunt.

Today I taste the victory or death greets me in defeat? Yes, today - I release the hounds and hunt. Today I taste the feast.
