The Human Condition

.

"Played for a fool by a fortune in fool's gold."

Not much else to do

when you've grown old

but seethe about the bridges you've been sold:

Trickle down, buy and hold,

Played for a fool by a fortune in fool's gold.

When you no longer believe in

the good guys always win

the wages of sin

Christ will come again.

Your zero hour three-point shot

lodged in the lumen

like a deep-vein clot.

The best of the best-

laid plans went to pot.

Bridges burned, vengeance sought,

a "whole world blind" left behind

Lives, by the lot, leveled for naught.

A suicide mission

a war of attrition

time turns us all into

casualties of the human condition.

Whipping your war horse full time, full tilt

Surviving this world 'til a better one's been built

Thriving by running foes through to the hilt

Mortal sins committed with no sense of guilt.
