The Heart

A Poem

The heart is strong, but yet so weak.

The heart is tender, so easy to break.

How many days do you wake and wonder why - why do I bother to try?

When you love someone so that you would sell your soul.

When you only want to grow old - but that someone wants to go.

They want to lead a double life - while you work your fingers to the bone.

You try and try and try - oh God, tell me why!

If love is so good, then why does it always hurt - one of us broken inside.

I will never, ever, understand how someone can break another over and over again!

You made a promise before God and me - but your words are lies, and they are weak.

I crawl like the worthless flea and beg and plead - to you; I'm a fool as you lay with another while laughing at me.

The heart is tender, and the heart is weak.

The heart is firm yet so easy to break.

So plain to see that you were never mine - so lame to believe in love this whole time.
