The Headless Horseman

Will you die of fright

By Mark Stigers Published 2 years ago • Updated 2 years ago • 1 min read

In the eerie town of Sleepy Hollow,

I am known to roam around.

If you hear me follow,

you may never be found.

It seems I lost my top, it is said,

to a flaming cannonball.

I will use a pumpkin for my head,

unless another into my hands should fall.

On a large black horse I ride.

I am a grisly menace.

It’s up to you to decide

if I smile while you grimace.

I am a horrible sight,

when I am after you.

Will you die of fright

and lose your head too?

At first, you will hear my hooves

Go clickity-clack, clickity-clack.

This race you are going to lose.

I get closer each time you look back.

I will get you.

There’s no way you’ll escape.

What will you do,

as your final prayers take shape?
