The Hand That Opens The Door

lyric

By Julie O'Hara - Author, Poet and Spiritual WarriorPublished about 18 hours ago • 1 min read

Verse 1]
They gave you a crown made of iron and rules,
A sword for the silence, a mask for the room.
You learned how to stand where the doorway was wide,
And never to ask what was kept locked inside.
[Pre-Chorus]
Come down from the throne,
Lay the old armor aside.
There’s more than one name
For the life you can live.
[Chorus]
King, warrior, lover, magician,
Four roads in the heart, not a cage to remain in.
Hold power with care, let your tenderness speak;
Be brave enough to change, be strong enough to weep.
No single old story can tell you who you are—
You are the hand that can open the door.
[Verse 2]
The king keeps the table, the fields, and the flame;
The warrior protects without worshipping pain.
The lover sees beauty in ordinary things;
The magician asks what a new choice could bring.
[Pre-Chorus]
Not masters or masks,
Not a test to be passed.
They’re maps in the dust;
You may redraw the path.
[Chorus]
King, warrior, lover, magician,
Four roads in the heart, not a cage to remain in.
Hold power with care, let your tenderness speak;
Be brave enough to change, be strong enough to weep.
No single old story can tell you who you are—
You are the hand that can open the door.
[Bridge]
At the well, by the oak,
Where the village stories turn,
Ask the boy you once were
What he still hopes to learn.
He does not need a throne,
He does not need a war;
Give him room to choose his name,
And room to choose once more.
[Final Chorus]
King, warrior, lover, magician,
Four lights in the heart, no one held in a prison.
Hold power with care, let your tenderness speak;
Be brave enough to change, be strong enough to weep.
No single old story can tell you who you are—
You are the hand that can open the door.
[Outro]
Lay the old armor down.
Keep what is true.
Make a wider story
Big enough for you.
