Trading in hours,

Selling my time,

My body,

My mind,

Bones for bread,

On the endless grind.

The tools work me,

To accomplish a task,

To answer the ask,

My smile a mask,

The professional kind.

Feeding my family,

My blood, sweat, and tears,

Frustrations and fears,

My intentions are clear,

To protect what’s behind.

And this is the burden,

That all parents share,

This is the price we pay,

to show that we care,

It is the example we strive to prepare,

That winning in this battle,

Is what peace we can find.
