The Grey Skies

A Melancholic Beauty

The sky is grey, a somber hue,

A blanket of clouds, heavy and blue.

The air is damp, with a chill in the breeze,

A gloomy day, with no reprieve.

The rain falls softly, a gentle sound,

A pitter-patter on the ground.

The world is quiet, subdued and still,

As if the weather has its own will.

The trees are bare, their branches stark,

Against the sky, so dark and stark.

The leaves have fallen, to the ground below,

A carpet of brown, damp and low.

The birds are silent, huddled in their nests,

As if they know, this day is not the best.

The world is muted, in shades of grey,

A melancholic scene, on this dreary day.

Yet still, there is a beauty to be found,

In the grey skies, that hover around.

A peacefulness, a calm and still,

A moment to pause, and just be still.

For in the grey skies, there is a chance,

To slow down, and take a glance.

At the world around us, in a different light,

And find beauty, in the darkest of nights.
