The Great Smokies

A day in the Mountains

The Great Smoky Mountains in Tennessee

A fun week long trip, two short summers ago

The first week of June, the start of a hot summer

The day I first hiked a mountain, at the time I did not know

The radiant scenery would stay in my mind forever

The animals drank from water like a fountain

Nests empty for the day, for all the birds had flown

A strong mother bear led her cubs like a captain

After seeing all that, my mind was, well, blown

One day in the mountains, but there's so much to see

I can't wait to go back to Tennessee
