I know you're trippin

and I keep slipping

on heartstrings draggin

and it keeps me laggin

behind

I'm trying to to catch up

and grab away that cup

poison

you've tasted it so long

it's made your heart song

bitter

all the heartfelt pain clatters

have left you a shredded tatter

wrecked

If only...

you let what's real

affect you the same way

you let the present

crush the past

like limestone bein

crushed for mortar

build something better

solid

instead of patchin a shack

built from a mirage

if only...

you let real acceptance

affect you so much

that you'd be flyin

instead of cryin

over the poison

spillin

if only...

you knocked down

those cardboard walls

that I saw

right through

let the light in

not fluorescent light

this time

unlock the door

open the blinds

if only...

you'd melt

that chalice down

then you'd find out

that it's

gold-plated.
