The Glass Floor
The sea I sail on continues to show me... -everything I've seen, everything in my memory.
To let a ship sink‐
after sailing for so many years...
even though it is already making is way to the floor of this sea,
is enough to make even to overwatching sky shed tears‐
as not every vessel can be saved.
By day and by night,
my eyes cannot help but to stare into the glass floor beneath me
and see what used to be‐
eventually, I'll learn to stop coming back.
~
On a cloudless day this mirror below me shows what used to be,
I need not a boundless glass floor to remind me my own history‐
as I am quite, well aware of what already glows in my memory.
On a moonless night these waters reflect the black sky above,
but I can see through this sea to what once was...
and I suppose, what isn't coming back.
To let go of what has already left‐
and stand face to face with the bereftness that remains...
this barren ocean will not allow me.
~
Sailing into new waters,
over new waves
and through new storms‐
this glass floor may change forms...
but of what it continues to remind me, remains the same.
I refuse to go back‐
as I know that nothing will be waiting for me there.
And though by day and night, I choose to continue onwards
I know that I have yet to see, all of what this sea of glass will attempt to bring me under.
About the Creator
JM
Personally, writing began as a creative outlet, to be a means of processing and venting emotion, but it has become so much more. Something I want not to be just relatable, enjoyable and a good read, but to reach someone who is in need.
