Every year, it’s the same dance

Don’t want to let go of summer, but Fall propose’s a dark romance

Daylight dwindles, darkness creeps in

Awakening the fancy for the spooky and the macabre within

Turn out the light, let the candles burn

Shadows leap and dance into the early morn

Tis the time for tales of terror and fright

This story takes place one Halloween night

There once was a girl dressed as a purple fairy

She stood in front of a mirror and called forth bloody Mary

It was all in good fun, never mind that ounce of dread

Until blood dripped down the mirror, and all she saw was red

In the shadows, a figure moved nearby

And then it was gone in the blink of an eye

The candles flickered, darkness closed in

Gripped with fear, unable to move, she stood frozen

The floor shifted, like someone walking past

The sound shot through her spine, and she flicked on the lights at last

It flooded the room, and everything was as it should be

However, something had been unleashed, and now roamed free

It slipped into her room and roused her from her dreams

Clipped her wings, and silenced her screams

It took up home in her body, and there for a long time it lay

Her insides in turmoil began to decay

She withdrew and became a shell of the girl she used to be

The one who dressed as a purple fairy
