the garden.

reflecting on my youth, my family, and my transition.

By Jhona XavieraPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

the garden.

today, my sunflowers turned green.

so i looked for my mother and asked,

"mother, why did the sunflowers turn green?"

and she said,

“my sun, sunflowers grow as they want. who cares in what way?"

today, my sunflowers turned red.

so i looked for my father and asked,

"father, why did the sunflowers turn red?"

and he said,

“my child, sunflowers grow impatient from always reaching for the sun."

today, my sunflowers turned purple.

so i looked for my grandmother and asked,

"grandma, why did the sunflowers turn purple?"

and she told me,

"my heart, never ask if it is God’s curse or the Devil's blessing."

today, my sunflowers turned black.

so i brought my little brother outside and he says,

"that's too bad. my friend, why did the sunflowers turn black?"

what could i tell him?

finally, my sunflowers turned yellow.

and i looked at the reflection of the sun and asked,

"why is it now that my sunflowers are yellow?"

in that moment, a bee landed on the sunflower.
