The Game
Nobody’s Really A Winner
Life sometimes doesn't seem worthwhile
It's just a bad game we play,
Although you don't like the rules of the game
You have no choice but to stay.
You wake up each morning
Not knowing if the rules have changed,
You walk around on egg shells
Wondering if play has been pre-arranged.
It's outcome is one that nobody knows
Who’s going to win or lose,
No matter what happens day to day
It soon becomes yesterday's news.
I guess you're never really a winner
You are just taken out of the game,
But there's always someone to step in your place
And the game goes on just the same.

About the Creator
Colleen Millsteed
My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.
