The Gallows Wait For Me
Wrongly accused of murder. Hanged till I was dead

The Gallows Wait For Me
I sit here on my bed,
Ready to face the gallows.
For something I never did.
Cold-blooded murder? No.
My heart cries out, I was framed.
The real killer? Jack Fogg.
He must be named.
In less than an hour,
They’ll hang me by the neck
Until I’m dead.
Too late to shout or make a fuss.
I’m as good as gone.
I was with him that dreadful night,
Drinking at the Penny Farthing pub.
He left me on the corner near home
He was murdered in his house,
Never breathed again.
The killer said he saw us fight,
Claimed I did it,
No doubt in their minds.
Now I hear footsteps.
The crowd has gathered.
The hangman checks the noose.
Each step, my knees give way.
My heart pounds like thunder.
A bag is thrown over my head.
Up the thirteen steps I go.
The rope slips around my neck.
“Three, two, one.
The crowd shouts, throws things.
Pain, fear.murderer the crowd roar.
Then I’m pushed.
Goodbye, cruel world.
My last thought,
Then, nothing.
A tunnel, darkest dark.
Then, pure white light.
And there,
Jesus waits.
He smiles, takes my hand.
I try to speak, He says, Shush, my child.
I believe you. It’s alright.
I follow Him,
To the heavenly land.
I try to tell the world below
I didn’t do it. no one understands.
Just a misjudged soul,
Only believed
and loved By Jesus.
Cherish you life, live it,
for tomorrow may never arrive
do only good no evil at all.
you never know when God will call
