The Fruit Trees That Bear No Fruit Anymore
Gone and forgotten

The Fruit Trees That Bear No Fruit Anymore
The orchard stands in quiet rows, where laughter used to grow,
Branches once heavy with promise now bend with nothing to show,
I walk between their hollow shade and feel the absence near,
A harvest lost to silent time, a season steeped in fear.
The soil remembers every root that fought to rise and live,
Each blossom that once dared to bloom, with everything to give,
Now petals fall before they form, undone before their start,
Like hopes that never found their place, or settled in the heart.
The wind moves through empty limbs, whispering what was,
Of days when sweetness filled the air and life had fully grown,
I reach to touch a brittle branch, it cracks beneath my hand,
A fragile truth I cannot change, a fate I did not plan.
No birds return to nest here now, no songs to greet the day,
The sky above feels far too wide, as colour fades to grey,
What once was full now echoes thin, a ghost of what was real,
A quiet ache that lingers on, too deep to fully heal.
I wonder if they feel the loss, these trees that used to give,
If something deep within them knows what it meant to live,
Or if they stand in empty grace, accepting what has been,
Rooted in a fading past, where fruit was once seen.
And still I walk these silent rows, though nothing calls me there,
Because somewhere within the loss, I find a piece I share,
For I have known a barren time, where nothing seemed to start,
A fruitless season just like this, that settled in my heart.
