THE FROG ON THE LILY PAD
The bird swept him away high up in a tree

THE FROG ON THE LILY PAD
A little frog sat on a lily pad,
Just floating on the pond,
Little salmon fish swam round him,
And he watched them all so fond.
His mum had sent him out that day,
To catch some fish for tea,
So there he sat upon his leaf,
As happy as could be.
Then suddenly a big blackbird
Came swooping from the sky,
It picked the little froggy up
And carried him up high.
It took him high into a tree,
And would not set him free,
“Ribbit, ribbit, ribbit, please,
This isn’t right for me.
If I don’t get back to water,
I’m going to die, you see,
There’s no way I can jump from here,
I’m stuck up in this tree its high
He looked towards the heavens,
With sad and tearful eyes,
Oh God of Frogs, please help me,
Please hear my frightened cries.
Take pity on this little frog,
And bring me safely down,
I only came to catch some fish,
Not fly above the ground.
And suddenly the God of Frogs
Reached gently through the air,
He held him safely in his arms
And whispered, Don’t you fear.
Shush, shush, my little froggy,
I heard you calling me,
I’ll take you back down to your pond
And set you safely free.
He carried him back to the water
And sat him on his leaf,
The little frog looked up at God,
His heart so full of relief.
There really is a God, he cried,
Thank you for saving me,
I thought that wicked blackbird
Would keep me for his tea.
Then off he hopped across the bank,
And hurried down the hill,
He raced across the heathland,
His little heart thumping still.
He burst into his mum and dad,
And shouted, You won’t believe,
A great big blackbird took me up
And wouldn’t let me leave!
I wished to God to help me,
And suddenly there was He,
He held me gently in His arms
And brought me from that tree.
His mum hugged little froggy tight,
His dad said, What a day!
Then Mum looked round the kitchen
And quietly had to say,
That’s wonderful, my little frog,
And I’m glad you’re home with me…
But didn’t I send you to the pond
To bring some fish for tea?
The little frog went very still,
Then whispered, Oh, I forgot.
I didn’t get a chance to fish,
That blackbird spoiled the lot.
His mum just smiled and shook her head.
There’s some berries in the dish.
And froggy thought, next time I go it is
MIRACLE LATER. FIRST THE FISH. 😂🐸❤️
