The Forest

Rainy days

It's hard to imagine a world without trees

the forest is the only place that has ever brought me peace.

Especially on early mornings, when the world is fast asleep

and all you can hear is the patter of rain drops, slipping from leaf to leaf.

You splash through the puddles on the way to your favorite spot

nestle under the big oak tree with your coffee and blanket to cot.

And even though it's raining, the area seems dry

because big Mama Oak knew you had come to cry.

To water her roots with your own salty tears

you are one with the earth and knew you could find comfort in her.

As she hugs you with her invisible disguise

the tears stop streaming

and so does the skies.
