The Fisherman Who Hated Fish
He love his boat and the sea, just not the fish

The Fisherman Who Hated Fish
The fisherman who hated fish
cast his net with little wish
not for silver scales to keep
he only dreamed of quiet sleep
He rowed out where the waters sighed
where gulls would circle far and wide
yet when the catch began to thrash
he turned away from all that splash
He liked the waves that rocked his boat
the gentle sound that seemed to float
he liked the breeze that brushed his face
and gave the world a softer place
But every hook that caught its prey
he pulled it free and turned away
he let them slip back to the deep
their secrets his alone to keep
The people laughed, called him strange
they said his life was out of range
what kind of man would cast a line
and never take the offered sign
He never cared for what they said
he sought no plate, no daily bread
the sea to him was not a dish
he was the man who hated fish
