The Fire

What do you want to say?

Whatever it is, you’re the only one that knows it

like you do

because you were given the gift of individuality –

a soul and a mind –

a combination of energies that are uniquely yours.

You were given your own special pair of glasses

allowing you to see the world from a perspective

not quite like any other.

And so we share our expression through art

and words

as a way to hold our lenses in front of each other’s eyes

and each time we look through a new pair,

our burning desire to understand

and expand

is satisfied a little

and then fueled a little more.

We each contribute our own special flame

to the Universal Fire

to see how big we can make it grow

and how well we can keep it contained.

It’s the game we’re here to play.
