The Final Word Was Silence

A poem

By Sara WilsonPublished 10 months ago Updated 10 months ago 1 min read
Quick doodle by me from 2009

She never sought revenge

Nor wished to prove them wrong

Her heart was tired of fighting battles

She only craved the calm

🦋

Through chaos they had led her

Through years of shadowed fight

She learned that peace outweighed the need

For closure’s fleeting bite

🦋

For closure meant more speaking

Another twisted spin

Another wound torn open wide

Another storm within

🦋

But peace arrived in silence

No answers to be shown

She chose to walk without their words

And claimed her strength alone

🦋

She ignored the calls that haunted

Deleted every plea

And vowed she’d never beg again

For love that should be free

🦋

Her healing was not thunder

No blaze, no roaring trial

It moved with quiet certainty

Strong, steady, firm, and final
