Battle wounds still entrenched

deep inside of my inner being.

Years of hurt to unpack.

Learning gradually with gentle reminders

to be kind to myself.

Waking each day with positive affirmations and a silent, thoughtful prayer.

Filling my days with meaningful, peaceful, and restorative work.

Realizing that healing is a journey that takes time and patience.

Each day I become a little stronger

and learn more about myself with each passing moment.

I have learned that it’s okay to not be okay, and not to pretend,

but seek genuine counsel,

be it in the form of a listening, unjudging ear, an inspirational song, or a quiet walk in nature.

But, most importantly, I have learned that my identity is in Christ.

I was made, unique and special

highly treasured, and divinely favored.

So, now I take this wealth of life-saving knowledge

and pass it on to you.

You are unique.

You are special.

You are treasured and divinely favored.
