The Fiery Goddess and the Silent Guru

aspects of inner wisdom

I often feel torn between desiring to embody my fullest potential –

to focus,

devote all of my being and work for hours on end,

clearing my mind from all distractions and letting myself fall into long creative spells over and over,

channeling something huge and powerful,

bringing forth into physical reality something that will touch the souls of millions of people so deeply that it will change the way they perceive every day reality –

and loving and accepting this moment just as it is –

relaxing into my life knowing there is nothing I need to do –

that even just being here is a miracle itself and that I,

my life,

my work,

this moment,

is enough just as it is.

That this is it.

And so sometimes I lose motivation to manifest my grand, elaborate visions, which feels a little defeating

and a little relieving at the same time.

It’s like there’s this invisible being of peace that whenever I start to feel anxious about not doing enough puts its hands on my shoulders and whispers, “Shhhhhh.

Relax.

Everything’s ok.”

And then there’s another being that shakes me up and shouts “Wait!

You have so much potential!

You are unique and powerful and limitless!

You need to make something!”

And both feel like truth.

The secret, I think,

is to listen to both the wise, silent guru that sits cross-legged, eyes closed, with an innocent beam on his face and an inner-knowing that all there is is bliss,

and so seeking anything is simply an illusion of the mind.

That there’s nothing to do because

everything is everything and you already

are –

to listen to both the wise, silent guru and the fiery sensual goddess inside that never seems to leave you alone for long because she’s burning with so much passion and excitement

for nothing other than

life itself

that if she tries to contain it,

she’ll explode.

As if she has no choice but to embody her most creative, flamboyant self,

she plays with colors

and moves the wind,

concocting something exquisite and beautiful

for no purpose other than that

she felt compelled to –

for no purpose other than that she felt Spirit in her body and let it move her

however it wanted to.

The secret is to listen to both.

And to know when to listen to who?

Well, that's the easy part.

At any given moment it will always feel better to listen to one of them than it will to listen to the other. And sometimes you'll want to listen to the goddess for awhile and sometimes the guru for awhile,

but neither will keep your attention forever.

Because the truth is,

the silent guru could not exist without the fiery goddess

and the fiery goddess couldn’t exist without the silent guru.

In fact, they are lovers,

soul mates,

twin flames.

Something about their sharp contrast in being is sexy –

irresistible to the other.

They crave each other constantly

because somehow,

the thing that makes the guru feel so at ease that all he wants to do is sit there and bask in his beingness

and the thing that makes the goddess want to dance and shout and paint

is made of the exact same essence.
