The sun came up again
like it does every day
without fail
day in
day out
we use it to measure time
without thinking of how
it was before You created it
we can't comprehend the
thought that brought it all to life
including us
made in Your image
in Your likeness
from the mist and dust
of the earth You created
You knew when You breathed life
into his lungs that
he'd make You wear a crown someday
of thorns and humanity lost
when You came in the flesh
one would betray You
before You washed his feet
his role was written long before
the foretold story of betrayal
he fulfilled prophesy
so You broke Your bread with him
and he drank from Your cup
he couldn't take his actions back
so he took his life
Your offering was for him too
Judas.

Author's note:
My perception of Judas being a flawed human of the world who was still eligible to receive the Christ Jesus' forgiveness through crucifixion is my own opinion, based on the Scriptures. The Christ knew who the betrayer was and still He washed his feet, β¬ because the fulfilling of prophecy is described in a sequence of events that includes the betrayer, Judas, but does not tell us that Judas was condemned to damnation. When the religious leaders condemned the Christ Jesus, Judas took his own life in the ultimate act of remorse. Judas had no idea that they were going to crucify Him, but the role of a betrayer was already cast from the Fall- whether it was Judas or someone else. It takes great overwhelming anguish to take your own life and I believe that Judas will be judged rightly, as we all will be. Christ rebuked Satan in Peter once, but didn't rebuke him in Judas: satan thought for sure that he was winning at that table, without realizing that he was being used through Judas to defeat eternal death.

βThen Judas, His betrayer, seeing that He had been condemned, was remorseful and brought back the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, saying, βI have sinned by betraying innocent blood.β And they said, βWhat is that to us? You see to it!β Then he threw down the pieces of silver in the temple and departed, and went and hanged himself.β Matthewβ¬ β27β¬:β3β¬-β5β¬ βNKJVβ¬β¬

βBut behold, the hand of My betrayer is with Me on the table. And truly the Son of Man goes as it has been determined, but woe to that man by whom He is betrayed!β Lukeβ¬ β22β¬:β21β¬-β22β¬ βNKJV

βJesus answered, βIt is he to whom I shall give a piece of bread when I have dipped it.β And having dipped the bread, He gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon. Now after the piece of bread, Satan entered him. Then Jesus said to him, βWhat you do, do quickly.β But no one at the table knew for what reason He said this to him.βJohnβ¬ β13β¬:β26β¬-β28β¬ βNKJVβ¬β¬
