The Feast

A Poem

The Feast

Chicken, brats, steak,

All my friends gather together,

Sharing memories,

Telling jokes,

Building bonds,

Eating delicious food.

I stay at home,

Cleaning what I can,

Taking care of the pets,

Going to and from work,

Spending what time I can with my SO.

Every photo,

Every text message,

I feel my throat tighten,

And I exit the app.

Why can't I be there?

Why can't I share those memories?

Eat the food?

See them in person?

I guess I'll have to wait until next time,

The next feast,

We'll have to see.
