The Fear of a Demon

It was the summer of 2003. I was 5 years old fresh off my,

summer camp trip to Disney World.

Day became night, in bed I lay.

This day was a dark one, a day that haunts me and drives me to pray.

The pleasant dream, turns to a nightmare

I witness a dark figure with a ruby red glare

The 8 ft black and purple demon with the body of King Kong,

fangs of a tiger and horns of a bull chased me in a blazing hot cave.

The cave seemed endless and the demon was relentless.

He maniacally laughed with wicked glee, with claws as sharp thumbtacks.

The terrible screeching of pain from other voices was all around.

This demon was scary as Pennywise the Clown.

All I could see was a face of evil enjoying my fear,

That's when I woke up in nothing but tears.

To this day whenever I think of this dream the image of that demon going for the kill

and my mom covering me in holy water still brings a chill.
