I.
The prince claimed himself king
Building a castle of lies
Believed strong as stone,
His followers were dull
But eager to obey.
II.
A collection of mistresses
All believed herself queen
Knelt before faux throne
With gilded hearts
In vacant eyes.
III.
The boy enjoyed his game
Until Karma arrived
In the form of a beautiful maiden.
IV.
He repeated his lies
Of fortune and fame
To ears that couldn't listen
Because they saw clarity
Where others were confused.
V.
His kingdom became a circus of his neglect
Full of concoctions of his making
Once favored and wonderful
Now delivering him to his undoing.
VI.
The biggest fool all was he,
For he fell in love with convoluted design
A creature of his mind;
He thought she believed the dealings he told,
But when she spoke out
He discovered his words were dirt
And his heart just dust.
VII.
The maiden had a heart un-wanting
A hand full un-needing-
She carried herself
With no need for disrupting
Discontented liar.
VIII.
She left him quickly, easily
His castle crumbled
From failure to remember
Tales he created.
The characters he believed in
Melted into checkered earth,
And only misery remained-
His true love
In her darkened gown
Forgotten beautiful life
For protection of simple mind.

Please take no offense...but this story brings to my mind, our President Joe Biden and the situations we now find our country in. The maiden is Lady Justice.
