Water rushing to

meet the town's edge--consumed

all things forgotten

Feet pounding on earth--

crowded dirty town sidewalks

the only escape

Wind surges forward

pushing those ahead--falling

to their battered knees

Fire burning bright

signalling the escape--hope

for those who make it
