The endless day turned into endless night.

He was dying and there was nothing I could do to stop it.

I told him it was okay to go. He shouldn’t be here anymore.

The guitarist played “Blowing in the Wind” . . . appropriate, but sad.

One of his favorites to listen to and to sing out loud.

She smiled at me as she finished and whispered “I’m sorry.”

The curtains fluttered in the breeze.

Only there was no breeze. No open windows.

The nurse looked at me and said “I think he just left.”

He died the following day but we knew he was gone the night before.
