The Emerald Kingdom of Sobriety
This poem is about addiction.
The only way to recover from an addiction is to avoid those who trigger it.
Avoid your old drug buddies.
Avoid areas of town you get your fix.
Look for inner peace and positive new hobbies.
The answers are within you.
Follow the yellow brick road.
But beware the witch and her flying monkeys.
Cut out anyone who wants to throw you off your path.
And is not supportive of this new addiction free version of yourself.
The path is hard,
The road is crooked.
You will trip over vines.
You will scuff your shoes on the brick path.
Don't let this stop you.
Keep your head held high.
Keep marching forward.
Even if it feels like baby steps.
You aren't ready to enter the Emerald Kingdom.
But you will get there.
You will meet the wizard.
You will beat this addiction.
