The Elders Knew the Best Way to Live
Simple life, and they worked so hard

The Elders Knew the Best Way to Live
The elders walked with steady feet upon the earth they knew,
Respecting every season for the gifts that each one grew.
They wasted little, treasured and shared what they could spare,
Believing every neighbour’s burden was a load to share.
They greeted every sunrise as another chance to give,
Teaching every child the simple, honest way to live.
Their wealth was never measured by the silver they could hold,
But by the love they freely gave that never could be sold.
They understood that nature spoke in every leaf and tree,
That rivers sang of patience and the birds of being free.
They watched the skies with gratefulness and listened to the rain,
Knowing every joy in life is balanced out by pain.
Around the fire their stories carried wisdom through the years,
Filled with quiet laughter born from triumph over tears.
Their words were never hurried, for they valued every thought,
And every lesson carried truths that life itself had taught.
They honoured age with dignity instead of turning away,
For every wrinkle held a tale that time could not betray.
Their strength was found in kindness and the promises they kept,
Not in the riches others gained or fortunes they had swept.
Perhaps the world would heal itself if we remembered still,
The gentle strength of humble hearts and steadfast human will.
The elders knew the greatest path was neither fame nor gold,
But living every day with love before our hands grew old.
