This was a day on the beach in Fulton, Texas 2014. THIS IS MY PHOTO. NO AI, JUST A CANON REBEL 2014 from my archives.

The Egret Who Knows the Way

The Pause Between Heartbeats

It didn’t rush.

It simply opened its wings

and the world made room

the way it does

for anything that remembers

how to rise.

For a moment,

even the wind forgot to breathe.

The sky held still,

waiting to see

what this white winged whisper

would become.

It lifted, unhurried,

and the whole sky paused

as if direction itself

had taken flight.

Some birds don’t fly.

They open the air.

And for one quiet moment,

the world waits

to follow their lead.
