The Echo of Her Laughter

Empty Halls

The hallway stretches, silent and vast,

Where once it echoed with her playful blast.

Each step I take, a hollow beat,

A ghost of her laughter, bittersweet.

Empty chairs by the window wait,

For conversations sealed by fate.

Sunlight paints squares on the dusty floor,

Where we danced until the day wore thin.

Photos on the wall, frozen smiles,

Mock the emptiness that now beguiles.

My hand reaches for a phantom touch,

But finds only echoes I clutch.

Will the silence ever learn to bloom?

Can joy return to dispel this gloom?

Or will these halls forever hold

The echo of a story left untold?
