The Dramatic Monologue of Mr. Gatsby

The life of Mr Gatsby.

By Natalie SminPublished 5 years ago • 1 min read

The gates will open soon,

The guests will arrive,

Countless people will enter,

From every walk of life.

Gangsters, politicians,

Flapper girls and all,

Here they come every week,

Streaming through those doors.

They come and they dance,

All through the night,

While my minds preoccupied,

By the girl by the green light.

I wait for her to enter,

Week after week,

Reclaiming our love,

The dream I seek.

A man took her hand,

Whilst taking many girls,

And she fell for his façade,

A string full of pearls.

But not to worry,

She always loved me,

This polo playing man,

Of which she’ll be free.

This image I’ve crafted

I’m finally who she needs,

I learnt from the best,

A wise man at sea.

The memory of a flower in the sun,

I hold onto this thought,

Shell be mine once again,

I promise you that, Old Sport.
