I know this sound, yes I know it all to well.
Very deep and profound, it's back I feel it beginning to swell.
It struggles to keep a steady pace, and has an unpredictable beat.
As if it's being held down while fighting to get back on its feet.
Could it be reckless, and wild and never be released?
Without any defence, I am certain it will eventually run free.
So do I run away like I should have before?
Should I investigate the sound and step through the door?
I've heard this sound before and let it in.
I wasn't aware of the pain and darkness that where soon to begin.
Something I could have prevented, that I could have controlled.
If only I would have listened, when I was warned and told.
That dancing with the devil isn't actually warm, in fact it's freezing cold.
I wasn't the only one.
They opened the door without knowing they've already sold their soul.
Drugs, lies and suicide, that's how this devil rolls.
So many tortured people, so many loosely bound.
Opening that door was the last time innocence and love were seen and found.
He reminds you that you did a thing or two that you don't quite regret.
He burrows into your memories and makes it impossible to forget.
As a child I was assured that no monsters lived under my bed.
Yet the devil lays beside me and plants doubt in my head.
Now the question to ask that you, that you will have to figure out.
Am I talking about the devil, or am I describing myself?
Well,
Is it me or could it be him?
Don't be afraid to answer, for this is a game that nobody wins.
Why? You ask..
You see my game is missing many pieces from the players before.
They are the ones who moved into my nightmares when I unlocked and answered that door.
