The Door

What Lies Beyond

By Asa GeePublished 4 years ago • 1 min read

Darkness….All around, filling my eyes.

Darkness.

I wander and grope in the darkness searching for something,

anything.

There must be something here.

Reach.

Grasp.

Nothing.

Wait! There piercing the darkness A Door.

Pure and white.

I must go through. Grasp the knob… cold as snow.

Why cold?

Time to turn the handle…

Hesitation. Why?

The other side must be better than the darkness of this side.

Right?

I have no choice. I must go through. Turn my wrist.

Nothing No movement.

The door is locked, barring my entrance.

Or maybe Preventing another’s exit

It could contain

Untold treasure, green grass or undescribable horror

A land full of milk and honey inhabited by… Monsters

Love. Fear.

Wait. A hand?

Emerging from the darkness. Coming to take me? Or give me…A key?

Yes. It has a key. Silver and Gold.

Grasp the key. Warm. Why warm?

I must use it.

The hand must have wanted me to enter.

But why? What does the door conceal?

I must use the key. Place the key in the hole.

Hesitation.

What if I release evil? Or maybe…

What if I find good?

I must…. No more delay . Turn the key.

Click.

Grasp the knob. Turn. Movement

Push…
