The Door

I heard it.

It was loud.

I saw it.

It was huge.

A shadow runs,

A breeze follows.

The dogs bark,

The children cry.

I see a strike,

But it was not bright.

A second moon appears,

Not in the sky,

But here in the red mere.

One lies in,

One stands out.

One runs off,

One screams loud.

It’s an odd night, I suppose.

The scents are peculiar.

I can’t tell what it smells like,

But it reminds me of metal.

It was a rough night.

I couldn’t hear clearly what happened.

All I remember was footsteps and sweat.

I woke up.

I was lost.

In a place I’d never known,

But felt like home.

“Is that water?” I asked myself.

It’s a river.

And I saw a door.

I opened it,

And I fell into the dark.

I heard it.

It was loud.

I saw it.

It was huge.

Some shadows run,

A breeze follows.

I hear laughter.

I hear tears.

I see a strike.

And it is so bright.
