Upon the counter, bathed in golden light,
Awaiting morning’s sweet and gentle start,
Resting in crusts of buttery delight,
Shines the ruby crown of a raspberry tart.
Each ruby drop, a promise of the sun,
Of April showers and the month of May,
A quiet joy, just waiting to begin,
To sweeten up the corners of the day.
Though shadows linger at the edge of night,
And heavy clouds have tried to dim the sky,
There's warmth in simple things that make us bright,
And reasons left to wonder and to try.
So lift the fork and taste the morning air,
Let hope dissolve upon the willing tongue—
A world of sweetness waiting everywhere,
And every golden hour yet unsung.
