The Dessert

Grasshopper pie

By Forest GreenPublished 4 days ago • 1 min read

We woke beneath a sky of melted mint,

Where clouds were spun of sugar-frost and light,

And every blade of earth caught emerald glint,

As day unlocked a sweet, forbidden rite.

The silver spoons descended from the moon,

To carve the horizon into velvet slices,

A pastel dream unfurled in quiet June,

Perfumed with chocolate dust and ancient spices.

We tasted twilight whipped to cooling air,

Where pastel moss dissolved upon the tongue—

A vibrant hope we never knew was there,

A breathless song the summer valleys sung.

No shadow lingered in this lime-hued space,

Where earth and heaven blended on the plate;

We spooned the stars and swallowed time and place,

And found the sweet beginning, born of late.
