The Dessert

peanut butter pie

By Forest GreenPublished about 22 hours ago • 1 min read

A crusted bed of chocolate crumbs,

pressed firm and eager by the heel of a hand.

Then comes the alchemy—

roasted peanuts beaten into clouds,

cream cheese singing with vanilla,

sugar whispering sweet secrets

to the heavy lift of whipped cream.

It rises in the pan like a golden hill,

a landscape carved for pure delight.

Into the chill of the icebox it goes,

patiently waiting,

while the clock ticks off the minutes

like a slow drumroll.

And when the knife finally cuts—

a clean, triumphant slice—

there it stands:

rich, unapologetic, and bold.

A crown of crushed peanut butter cups

scattered like confetti on top.

One bite is a collision of textures,

crunchy and velvet,

salty and sweet,

a symphony that dances on the tongue

and makes you close your eyes

just to feel the joy

melt all the way down to your toes.
