The Dessert

chocolate peanut butter pie

By Forest GreenPublished about 22 hours ago • 1 min read

A fortress of crushed-up cookies,

dark and buttery,

holding the secret promise

of what is yet to come.

Then whipped into the light—

a cloud of roasted peanuts

and powdered gold,

beaten smooth as a Saturday morning

and rich as a belly laugh.

Dark chocolate on top or

in the side.

Pour it in.

Crown it with velvet tides

of melted midnight cacao,

glossy enough to mirror

the grin on your face.

No need to wait for a reason.

Just slide the knife through the chill,

rescue a wedge of pure, unbridled glee,

and let the sweet, salty magic

steal the rest of the day.
